Tree Work Explained - Technical
- precision felling
All tree felling requires precision in where the cut parts land on the ground. Some tree felling requires this more so than others. We are trained and qualified in the use of such techniques as "skylining", where the cut pieces are removed from the tree by zip wire, controlled felling, whereby a series of the correct cuts, the use of wedges and winches the tree is brought down in a safe and precise manner. Or simply bringing a tree down within a confined area using various rigging techniques.
- tree dismantling
Tree dismantling is a technique used by trained arborist to remove trees that are too large for the area they can be removed in. We use a number of techniques to remove trees including skylining, rope rigging and freefall. Cranes may be hired in where required, however this is entirely at your liability.
- elevating work platform
Our elevating work platform gives access to trees that, for whatever reason, cannot safely be climbed. The limitation to this is that vehicular access is required, so don't expect it to fit through your garden gate and down narrow passage ways. The advantages of using this platform are speed of access to the tree and the fact that the outer branches may be accessed more easily. We also use this platform for high hedge work.
- aerial tree work
We carry out aerial tree work from the ground, using a pole saw, from rope and harness where necessary (such as in very large trees) or from our elevating work platform. We are trained and qualified in all aspects of aerial tree work, with the exception of live line working, if live electrical conductors are passing within the specified distances of the proposed work additional permissions must be sought.
- high hedge work
Using our elevating platform we can maintain hedges up to 15m (45ft) high or reduce any hedge to 12.5m (38ft), maintain trees, carry out any required works, or remove ivy and other climbing plants, provided vehicular access is possible. If vehicular access is not possible, we are also fully trained and qualified tree climbers.
- stump removal
We can remove your stump. There are a number of removal methods, if you want the stump removed but consideration has to be given as to why remove the stump? There is little point to removing the stump with a stump grinder if the next operation is to dig foundations, since the area will be dug anyway. Grinding the stump is also pointless if it is going to be under the footprint of a new build as the process will not remove the associated roots.
If you want the stump to be below ground level so you can turf over it, then stump grinding is for you. Digging the stump out is far more appropriate if building work is to take place. When we fell a tree we cut the stump to ground level, it cannot usually be seen unless you are right on top of it or it is a large stump.
- chipping
We are able to chip all arisings from tree felling to your requirement or alternatively we remove from site.
- logging
Should you wish your tree cut for use in the fireplace or for any other purpose, we are happy to oblige. Otherwise we remove all arisings from site for disposal.
